Schumacher & Jonas
Birgit Anna Schumacher was born in 1961 near Cologne. She studied ethnology and comparative linguistics in Bonn, Cologne and Berlin. She has worked in the fields of economy and urban research, employed by a business communications agency. In 1997 she received a degree in culture management. Uwe Jonas, born 1962 in Hamburg, studied political science in Braunschweig and Berlin. He was an assistant at the FU Berlin and the Humboldt-University Berlin until 1994, later teaching at the Design Akademie Berlin, as well as at the Fachhochschule für Rechtspflege und Verwaltung(Berlin). He has also been Project Consultant for a development company in Braunschweig. Uwe Jonas and Birgit Anna Schumacher have lived in Berlin since 1986, working as fine artists (focusing on media installation, performances in public spaces, and video) as well as being curators and organisers of various art projects since 1993. |
